STORY BEHIND THE SONG:    I am a proud American, and I love to write patriotic rock and roll songs like this one. Verse Three contains my tribute to President Ronald Reagan.

STORY BEHIND THE SONG:    There’s nothing like young love blossoming at a county fair. This song recounts a young couple’s day-to-evening tour of the fair.

STORY BEHIND THE SONG:    The opening guitar rift was stuck in my head for months. I played it over and over again, but no words came to mind. Then I went to see my cousin, Gerry Mitchell, drive in the Demolition Derby at the Essex County Fair in Westport, NY. He won the derby, and SMASH! I found the words for this song!

STORY BEHIND THE SONG:    Fair food is soooooo good! This song began life as “Vinnie’s Barbeque”. When my granddaughter, Ellie, visited rehearsal one evening, I changed “Vinnie” to “Ellie” for her. And it stuck!

STORY BEHIND THE SONG:    My band has played many benefit and charity shows over the years. I always wanted to play a song in dedication to persons and families struck by an unfortunate medical situation. I could never find an appropriate song, so I wrote one. I dedicate this song to everyone who fights the good fight against illness, disease, or injury.

STORY BEHIND THE SONG:    Many of my best times with family are times spent fishing, hunting, or engaged in other outdoor activities. This song is dedicated to my Grandpa (George Sr.), my Daddy (George Jr.), me (Rob Sr.) and my son (Rob Jr.).

STORY BEHIND THE SONG:    One of my favorite bands is REO Speedwagon. They included an instrumental track on many of their albums. I like that, so I do the same. On this track, my studio musicians get an opportunity to flash their greatness.

STORY BEHIND THE SONG:    I wrote this while on deer stand during the 2010 hunting season. It was an unusually warm day in upstate New York, and the deer weren’t moving. I had a small pad of paper and a pen in my pocket, and I had a tune bouncing around in my head. Voila! I didn’t get a deer that day, but I did write a fun song. It turned out to be a productive day!

STORY BEHIND THE SONG:    I remembered a time as kids when my brother, George, and I got lost in a department store. I changed the setting to the fair and wrote this song from the point of view of two young brothers who get separated from Mom for a while.

STORY BEHIND THE SONG:    I grew up in the Adirondack Mountains of upstate New York, and I went to law school at West Virginia University in the Mountain State, West Virginia. I am proud to say I am both an Adirondack Mountaineer and a West Virginia Mountaineer. Hence, I love to write songs with mountain themes.

STORY BEHIND THE SONG:    I have a friend who loves Martina McBride. I offered to write a song in Martina’s style if my friend would sing it on my recording. My friend was not available at time of recording, so I sang it instead. Maybe someday, I can get Martina to sing this song at a county fair…

STORY BEHIND THE SONG:    A county fair CD would not be complete without a square-dance song, and this is mine. I am aware of only two songs with kazoo solos; this one, and Ringo Starr’s YOU’RE SIXTEEN. Go Ringo!
